Change in Mission Presidents

Pres. and Sister Hunter
We have been anxiously waiting since the middle of January for our new mission president, Richard A. Hunter (son of Pres. Howard W. Hunter) to arrive. He has been having some medical issues for which the medical people have not been able to diagnose. In the mean time, the church missionary department designated the first counselor President Chynoweth to be the acting mission president until President Hunter could join us.

Since President Hunter's condition has not change nor has there been any way to know when it may change, it was determined on February 27 that he would be released as our mission president.

Pres. and Sister Gibbons
On the following Thursday, March 6, Larry W. Gibbons was called to be our new mission president. He will take over as of April 1. He and his wife live in Texas. He and his wife are currently serving as Sunday School teachers. He has served in the Second Quorum of Seventy, area presidency, two stake presidencies (one as president).

We were looking forward to meeting President Hunter before we were released. Now we will have another president who we will not meet before we go home.

President Chynoweth and the other counselor President Jones have been doing a great job in keeping things going during this time of uncertainty related to the mission leadership.
