New Rendezvous Parts

The Rendezvous show that is performed by senior missionaries every day of the year except Sunday and Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve has as one of its main roles the part of "Editor." He wears a dark shirt, sleeve protectors, a black apron and has a gold watch and chain. In one apron pocket is a folded copy of the "Times and Seasons" paper. In the other apron pocket is a folded copy of the "Nauvoo Neighbor" paper.

The "Times and Seasons" was devoted to the Church, its history and the like. The "Nauvoo Neighbor" was more of a public journal. Both papers were printed in Nauvool


The Editor starts the show, then tells about different things that went on in Nauvoo. Throughout the show there are different events taken from pioneer journals and dramatized. In between these dramatizations, the editor explains what went on in Nauvoo and introduces the next dramatization. The whole show lasts about one hour. The Editor part is a major part.

Editor with Agatha & George Skillingstead

Fred was asked to learn this part about a month ago and it has taken a great deal of effort. He has to interact quite with the audience and especially with one couple playing the parts of George and Agatha Skillingstead. He also performs as editor in some of the dramatizations.

Tonight night was his debut doing this part. We ended up doing two shows that night because there were several bus tours here. But it was a good thing because he got to do back to back shows (good practice). He did a really good job. Up to now we both have had several little one or two line parts.

Our kids won't believe that their dad is an actor. His playing that part automatically required that I take a bigger role of Relief Society President in the scene about the Relief Society. But it was all good. By the end of October, we will have 20 people returning home. So, there are a lot of people leaning new parts, some more than one part.
